The year 2016 gets a lot of respect when the experts of the winemaking world get together and chat.
With this Brunello, you’ll be taken step by step, sip by sip, into sunny Italy. It literally plays a concert of deep ruby color when you swirl it in a glass.
The scent is reminiscent of raspberries, blackberries, sour cherries and forest fruits. While the color speaks of maturity, the taste has a soft touch of wood and a whiff of spices. There’s unmistakable fullness and harmony to it. At the same time it has a spark of youth and a great potential to be archived.
In Torrenieri, on the slopes of Montalcina, the vineyards of the Innocenti family are located 350 meters above sea level. The clay-sandy soils with ideal permeability and a southwest slope give the grapes exactly what they need: just enough sun, plus wind and time.
The fermentation process is slow so that the wine can take the best of grapes. The temperature is between 80-84 °F. This ensures the depth and structure. The wine then rests in oak barrels for two years and one year in the bottle. That’s how a wonderful experience is made. Each sip is juicy, energetic and with a long, spicy aftertaste.
The 2016 vintage is really worth your attention. And time. Give it both. You’ll be rewarded with depth which simply can’t be rushed.
