2006 Noray Roca de les Dotze
Steep terraces, rocky soil, 750 meters above sea level. Then add the wild Catalan mountains. In such a place it’s not easy for the grapes. And that’s why they give their best.
A portion of juicy fruits awaits you in every bottle. Even after years in the bottle it’s surprisingly fresh. Add to that spicy notes, soft minerality and a certain amount of rawness. More...

The Grenache variety plays the lead here (60%) and supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Syrah they make the perfect combination. The steep Catalan terraces added the typical Spanish fierceness. However, it’s been nicely tamed by Lourdes Rispa and her team from a small family winery of Roca de les Dotze.
The 2006 vintage was a real challenge. The rains, the spring snow. Then the dry summer with scorching sun followed by the September showers. Challenging indeed! But the winemakers from Roca de les Dotze didn’t give up. They picked the grapes by hand and sorted them on tables one by one.
The result? Poorer harvest, but the reward…. Wine with an extraordinary character. It rested in French oak barrels for 14 months and then matured further for a long time in the bottles. This is not a mass-produced wine. This is Priorat from a small boutique winery where only thousands of bottles are produced every year. This wine pairs beautifully with meat and fattier foods.
A practical thing to note before opening: the cork may be brittle due to its age. Your ordinary bottle opener may not do the trick here. Use a special wine opener for vintage bottles. We include one FREE with every carton.
