Meet Bordeaux.
There’s no doubt that good red wine has French roots.
And these roots here go very deep, indeed.
In the vineyards by the Dordogne river they’ve been breaking their way through the iron soil for more than 45 years. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties drew from it the best it could offer.
And it was from these grapes that a wine was created, proving that patience brings beauty.
It matured for eighteen months in oak barrels half of which were brand new. And then – years in bottles followed. Five years, ten, fifteen, twenty… Time took the edge off, added spice tones and the typical French charm.
With each sip we’re reminded that some flavours only develop when you let them mature in peace and quiet for a long time. We’re talking tertiary notes with a hint of cocoa and chocolate.
The color changes from crimson to brick.
The aroma of ripe fruits will remind you of forest fruit jam and dried figs. The taste combines freshness with noble woodiness.
And the finish? Very very long, as expected. Spicy with a light touch of tobacco.
So all that remains now is to open the bottle and exclaim “À votre santé.” Cheers!
It will pair beautifully with roast beef, game, delicate blue cheeses or mushroom sauces.
