A golden yellow wine with amber highlights. This is the top-selling Slovak Tokaji.

It was created from the Furmint, Lipovina and Muscat Blanc varieties in such a way that it “gave birth to itself”. What does that mean? The winemakers didn’t separate the botrytized grapes (those that were infected with a noble fungus) from the other ones. They let them all ferment together, thus giving the Tokaji 2015 a unique taste.

The wine matured for at least 3 years in oak barrels. The winemakers traditionally store them in tuff cellars – a space carved into volcanic rock 12 meters below the Earth’s surface.

Their careful, slow tending is reflected in the color, taste, and bouquet of Tokaji samorodny the 2015. In its aroma you’ll detect tones of honey, beeswax, and dried fruit. It’s spicy on the tongue and has fresh acidity. With years of archiving its flavors have been smoothed and blended, and become well-rounded.

Try the Tokaji samorodny sweet, perhaps with a ham and cheese roulade or with traditional Slovak pierogies.
