When you’ll get asked about the vintages in Bordeaux and which one was exceptional you’ll know the answer. It was 2016. Only a few sips of this wine is enough to convince you. It’s one of those that’s not easily forgotten. It’s very impressive for the first time, the second time, the thousandth time…
You’ll enter the realm of scent and breathe in the aroma of black fruits and ripe plums with the hint of candied cherries. You’ll be charmed by a soft hint of pastries and baked goodies like that sweet and still warm plum cake fresh out of the oven. Its dark purple color promises depth, fullness and character. It’s a promise that’s fulfilled to the letter. Now it’s time for a first sip. It’s silky on your palate. It’s juicy, full and velvety.
The Merlot (90%) provides softness and roundness, the Cabernet Franc (10%) adds structure and firmness. It will stroke your tastebuds with soft ripe tones. Its perfectly balanced body doesn’t lack a thing. And the aftertaste? It’s long. Very long. With tones of candied fruit and a light touch of oak.
The grapes were collected by those handy winemakers from Château Tour Grand Faurie on vineyards older than 45 years. The vines’ roots grow well through the ideal clay-limestone soil. Add plenty of sun, just the right temperature and 18 months of aging in French oak barrels. In short, the grapes got exactly what they needed.
After the first sip you’ll understand why this wine got so many awards. Silver from Independent Winemakers, 92 points from Decanter, 90 points from Wine Enthusiast.
Are you patient? Is there enough space in your cellar? Keep a few bottles of this gem for later. This wine deserves to be archived. Its taste has great potential.
