2024 Grüner Veltliner Weingut Hirtl
Austria and Grüner Veltliner? This connection simply works. But watch out! The Kirchberg one is a special one. You’ll notice it the second you try it.
Your glass will light up with a beautiful gold-yellow color and you’ll be captivated by the smell of ripe pears. Can you notice how it’s inconspicuously blending with the soft spicy tones? There’s also a pinch of white pepper there followed by a hint of bacon. Yes, that’s right – bacon. And if you smell it again you’ll catch a light flowery hint. More...

The first sip?
Dry, fresh with the right Veltliner acidity. A delicate taste of apple blossom unfolds on the tongue. It’s inviting you to take another sip. It’s just the right combination of lightness and character so typical and sought for when it comes to a good Veltliner.
The soil on the southern slope of Kirchberg near Poysdorf alternates between loess and gravel. Ideal situation indeed! Local winemakers work honestly with these natures’ gifts getting the best out of them. Carefully divided bunches, controlled vinification in stainless steel tanks with the temperature under control at all times. And then…patience. At least four months of it.
The result? A wine that has found its form and typical spicy elegance.
It won’t spoil any toast but if you’re also looking for a whole evening companion – you’ve just found it. It’s oh so light and those poured glasses will disappear in front of your eyes.
It goes well with Austrian cuisine. Think their light potato salad or stew. Charcuterie, pate, cheese? Great pairing indeed.
It tastes perfect right now.
While it’s young and fresh. The first few years are the best.
