Care for another glass?
Go ahead and pour one. But before you do, let us reveal where that freshness actually comes from.
Honigberg shares nothing with real honey other than its name. In reality, it is a premium vineyard site – an Erste Lage. At Weingut Fries, they know that a great Riesling begins right here: in the vineyard. The vines drive their roots deep into the grey slate, which gives the wine its distinctive character, subtle minerality, and beautiful balance. What’s more, the grapes were left on the vine longer than usual, hence the “Late Harvest” (Spätlese) designation. This accounts for that touch of sweetness.
Taste the Riesling from the “Honey Mountain” (Honigberg).
