Vintage wine from the Michel Fonné winery

Wine from the Michel Fonné winery takes you to the north of France, to Alsace. It’s here where the picturesque village of Bennwihr and vineyards with exceptional soil are hidden in the shadow of the mountains.

Michel Fonné, the heir of a winemaking tradition that reaches back to 1747, is growing vines in the local vineyards. He studied winemaking in Dijon and Damery and brought both traditional and new methods back home. More…

What intrigued us about his wines?

  • Michel Fonné uses different subsoils for different varieties from Riesling to Pinot Gris to Gewürztraminer.
  • Grapes from different parts of the vineyards are harvested by hand and processed separately to preserve the characteristics of their soils.
  • He doesn’t use pesticides. A special species of friendly mites fights with pests.

He also uses a traditional method for producing champagne, which helps him create a lively and refreshing sparkling wine. We especially recommend his wines in the Grand Cru series. An exceptional soil is reserved for them, which consists of elements of marble, limestone, granite, calcium, and magnesium.
