What you’ll get in this wine gift set?
2001 Rioja Gran Reserva Bodegas Urbina
Allow yourself to be taken on a journey through time. Your guide shall be the vintage red 2001 Rioja Gran Reserva bearing the scent of fresh raspberries dressed in a soft haze of smoke and elegant spiciness. Just imagine. It’s the year 2001. The harvest is in full swing in the small Spanish village of Cuzcurrita. The experienced wine makers are starting to understand that this year’s Tempranillo will be special. So special, in fact, that they decide to wait. And wait. Then wait some more.
When the wine rested nicely in oak barrels, the winemakers of Bodegas Urbina could have done it the usual way. Send it off in bottles into the wide world. But they didn’t. Instead they kept the wine for several more years in stainless steel tanks. Why? Because all the smells and tastes need time. Time to settle. To blend and tune in. And to become what they are today – the perfect harmony.
It’s simply a legend. Years of patience. Waiting for perfection. Are you in? Will you give it a try?
2010 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Chateau Tour Grand Faurie
The grapes are harvested by hand and then carefully sorted with the classic French approach where each detail matters. Then comes the fermentation in tanks and 18 months in French oak barrels. There’s no “let’s see what happens” here, it’s a safe bet!
And how about the taste? Charming, tempting and round with velvety tannins and a long smooth aftertaste. It’s all about dark colors with the flash of brick. The aroma is of macerated fruit with elegant vanilla. It’s a fairytale in the mouth. This wine has been around for some time already but still has plenty of strength to rest a few more years in your home archives.
2019 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Innocenti
Elegant, classy and from a wonderful vintage. This wine will leave you in no doubt that you’re pouring a glass of a true Italian tradition. Your nose will be tickled by the scent of ripe cherries, forest berries and fruits followed by a soft, rounded tone of wood. All in a perfect balance.
How about the taste? Full, balanced, with firm structure and tannins. What gives this wine its special character is the more pronounced acidity. It’s refreshing and lively. The aftertaste? Excellent. This Brunello is only just waking up. It has a great potential to be archived. It promises to age with grace. Employ your taste buds and try for yourself.
